Been getting in quite a few short after work mtb rides at the local state park. But all the spiders are gone off the trail now - too damn cold for them. But to make up for it I've been hearing more coyotes than ever before. And I've seen a couple of white tail deer just off the trail as well. No chupacabra lately though...

Thanks for stopping by!

Steve ZSteve Z (swampboy62)https://www.blogger.com/profile/03594045912519415678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1099172522048117068.post-37350987067870197112016-11-10T10:58:53.773-05:002016-11-10T10:58:53.773-05:00Great post. There is a stretch on Fish Creek road where there are no houses or lights. With no moon it is DARK, so dark. I have had elk appear in the headlights suddenly. I know they could see my light coming so they are not surprised but are staring right at me when I first see them. It is a bit un-nerving!! Almost every time I head out to ride at night I take time for a break along the trail, where I turn off all the lights and just enjoy being out there in the dark. Simple pleasures...

Night sailing sounds like a blast. I've done some full moon kayaking on easy whitewater before, and it was a lot of fun as well. One time I did try night paddling in a kayak outfitted with lights, but it didn't work nearly as well as it needed to! Luckily it turned out well, but I've avoided trying it again. But, come to think of it, these new LED bike lights are 10 time brighter than the lights we had to work with back then. Maybe I ought to put some though into rigging up a trial run again!

SteveSteve Z (swampboy62)https://www.blogger.com/profile/03594045912519415678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1099172522048117068.post-52582092832232263752016-10-15T10:00:11.903-04:002016-10-15T10:00:11.903-04:00We here in florida have these banana spiders that ...We here in florida have these banana spiders that make wolf spiders look like fleas. And yeah, they run webs across the trail. A long time ago there was a wolf spider in my garage and she was kind of a pet. Very tame and would come watch me while I puttered around doing garage stuff.

I never ride at night...well, wait, I did so just a few days ago, doing fast laps around the parking lot of the Outback we were remodeling. But with the work lights and the street lights it was hardly dark...

On the other hand, we used to go night-sailing on our hobie cats on big moon nights. Just absolutely beautiful and there was a phosphorescent glow coming off the rudders and it was just magic. Thinking about it makes me ponder on a night ride tonight on the beach.

First I have to go to the midget wrestling at the cabbage patch. That's a real thing, believe it or not. google it.tim joe comstockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05674750449179073721noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1099172522048117068.post-41654104876699898992016-10-05T16:39:12.713-04:002016-10-05T16:39:12.713-04:00I'm not a big spider fan either, but as long a...I'm not a big spider fan either, but as long as they stay on the ground I'm okay. SOOOO glad that we don't have the 'spider webs across the trail' problem that happens down south. I think I might fabricate a web breaker for the front of my bike if that was the case!

It does seem like there should be some good use for pedal reflectors. Maybe I'll start saving them when I pick them up, and try to figure out some imaginative use!Steve Z (swampboy62)https://www.blogger.com/profile/03594045912519415678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1099172522048117068.post-51114313846918574012016-10-05T16:38:34.858-04:002016-10-05T16:38:34.858-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Steve Z (swampboy62)https://www.blogger.com/profile/03594045912519415678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1099172522048117068.post-9246906573882532002016-10-05T16:11:15.899-04:002016-10-05T16:11:15.899-04:00Neat post! You've experienced something very few folks have. I don't like those guys, but rainbow eye reflections is pretty cool!

Pedal reflector game... seems like you should save them all and make some kind of an art piece with them?

With the days getting shorter and the fact that I just purchased a bike light, maybe I will have to research trails on my way home from work that allow after dark riding.Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15910825236471942832noreply@blogger.com
